Hey,

So what is your fav bit of kit?

Maybe its your camera - brings your memories back out with you, or mabe your 15ltr cylinder - stay down longer, or your torch as its really effective..... the list goes on....

My favourite has to be the Beaver Spring Fin Straps! One of the simplest and cheapest items that has made diving so much easier! Whether taking fins off with cold hands, or getting them on without straining a muscle!

Whats yours....?.....?

I bought a 2nd hand KISS rebreather last year. Best bit of kit I've ever owned, I wouldn't be without it now. Especially after having seals following me for most of the dive on my last few dives at Finnart and The Caves because there were no bubbles (never had that in 12 years there). It's changed my diving completely.

Cheers,

Stuart

I'm always tempted when I hear people raving about their rebreathers. There's a guy in our club has an inspiration and it does seem to be the dug's baws. And I really like the idea of being silent, not scaring away the animals. But the cost is steep, and I don't know if I have a sufficiently careful mentality not to do myself a mischief with it ...:o
Maybe one day ...
Can I ask how much teh kiss rebreather cost?

My favourite piece of kit this year is also the beaver spring fin clips. Really easy to put on in the water. Best thing since the light cannon in 2002.

Spring straps. Doesn't matter if they're homemade Woz type, beaver or halcyon. Unbreakable with no fannying about with cam buckles or adjustments, just pull em on. Brilliant.

Well, it seems that yif you want to be a happy diver you should buy a light cannon and spring straps! You will be as happy as a wee sand boy then!

i don't think it could get any worse
It's like someone just flushed a giant toilet full of frozen turds into loch long ...

... although i suppose it gives us the opportunity to get a sense of the "Stoney Cove" experience right here on our doorstep without having to travel all the way south to Leicestershire ...

Might seem a bit sad, but I find that my diving computer has become an essential piece of kit, especially since I got hold of a PC interface kit for it. I find myself spending quite a bit of time mulling over the dive profiles and being self-critical of the red patches marking moments of speedy ascent, and patting myself on the back for lowering my average air consumption.

Also agree that a good torch is a wise investment (especially when you get it as a pressie)! UW camera case also proving very engaging.

Sorry, that's 3 items! Never mind. ;)

If u dive u need dive toys, Big boys toys, They just seem to get bigger and more expensive, from a uk40 to a light cannon and from 4 meg to 8 megs it never ends. I used to dive with a guy who looked like a xmas tree, I'm not far off, soon wont need a weight belt!

I would love to have a computer with a pc interface! My Suunto companion (glorified dive timer!) is still going strong so until it dies on me im stuck with it i think! The next one will definitley have a pc interface i think!

Christmas is coming i suppose.....

Diving a bathtub full of silt in January (maybe February) wasnt actually my idea of fun either! Maybe it would have been better if the vis wasnt so bad!

has to be umbilical greenforce torch which i strap under the velcro of my glove on the back of my hand.

It can be a good dive in the summer with good viz

My two fav bits of kit are as follows (in no particulr order) - the ears and tail my torch dons. Great calming influence, get a bit spooked look at them move the torch and they move about, a kind of comedy moment, helps me, the other has to be my buddy as long as their capable...!!

The problem with 'favourite bit of kit' polls is that it can make me buy a UK Light Cannon and Beaver spring fin straps when all I planned to do was refill my tanks. Roll on Thursday night.

forgot to mention that I love my titanium knife. Had it for 2 years now. Never clean it. Still spotless. My old steel knife was more like a sharp turd by the time i binned it ...

The light cannon and spring straps worked perfectly at the A Frames last night - definitely get the thumbs up. I should also vote for Scubapro Twinjet fins - much better than my old Idea 3 Spoon fins (which gave me cramp) and faster than my pal's Scubapro Twinspeeds. My buddy, Alan bought a pair and also rates them much better than his old Mares Plana Avantis.

Now what was that about a shiny new titanium knife.................?

At the moment ive got my eye on 2 things - a northern diver mask (vision i think) that fits my face and has good visibility out of (glass at the bridge of your nose rather than plastic) and the firedry gloves (just coz ive tried them on and ive never had a better fit with gloves! And they are nice and slightly furry inside! Ive already got the firedry hood you see.... Much better to put on while wet!

I need to buy a piston clip to make a name tag

When deep diving at the bottom of the line when its not on the wreck u leave a strobe to help find the way back and a piston clip with your name on it so the last person back can take the strobe.
