View Full Version : Conger Alley
Was diving Conger on sun the viz was 2-3m in 0-12m depth and got up to 4m at depth. For the people who are trying to see if diff states of the tide give best viz the tide was out. Did not get any good pics but got some practice using macro and holding the strobe in my hand with a nudi at 12m. The best of 62 pics were of the tops of rocks (they dont swim away). Anybody fancy a dip before the weekend.:)
The viz at the first 2m was 1 meter and below it was 10+
Tide was high.
Maybe the spell of dry weather helped? This would be in line with the theory that poor viz is mostly caused by run-off water from the hills ...

I think because there has been little wind and the loch has been flat all the shit in the water sinks to the bottom leaving clean clear tropical conger alley diving. :D :D
Has anybody been diving the conger alley this week? was wondering what the viz was like...
I'm posting this picture here for those of u who dont look at the photography part of the forum

Just back from Conger. Claire, Ian, Dive Granny, Jon, Saskia, Pat, Campbell and 2 trainees, Robin and Alastair were there too. Very quiet without Ding!
12oC at depth, but a chilly 9oC at <4metres. Did 2 dives of 48 and 41 mins. Sunny with heavy showers. Nice rainbow at the start of the 2nd dive.
Usual selection of various sizes of Conger. Lots of large crabs at the north end of the reef. Had some fun chasing small scallops. Tigger was seen on the 2nd dive. Loads of fish of various sizes. One very funny wrasse that kept following DG.
Going by the colour of DG's suit, the fish must have thought that it was following it's big sister. :D
