While trawling through some videotape looking for blanks to use, I stumbled over this footage that I was convinced I taped over a long time ago.
So, since it has been such a rainy Saturday, I decided to edit it.
Some footage had to be dropped completely, Bod’s rather remarkable & inventive underwater hand signals to name but one, in fact, only the footage of Bod’s antics had to be dropped, everyone else was rather well behaved.

A journo once said the sharks swam past "like a fridge", and in truth, are they really that interested in you? .Probably not. But oh, the tales you can weave.

I remember the dive guide gesticulating wildly that I should get down on my knees as one of the "bored" sand tigers cruised towards us and for about a nano second I entertained the thought that I wouldn't give way to him.
Yes, I did drop down onto the sand. And what about those lovely leaps over the tunnels? I HAD A VERY CLOSE ENCOUNTER WITH A TAUPE during that moment. And I loved watching one of my cusac buddies bricking it in the presence of an extremely large conger. However,I fully sympathised when the same beast swam by my ear and I thought that it was an express train bound for Glasgow central.

So, be as blase as you want to be Mr T2T, the sharks may have been bored, but they were still capable of generating a certain shudder of delight in me. But that's diving, isn't it? All in the mind.

Excellent vid Stewart, I only have stills, so I am glad you recovered it.

When we went there was a new shark called Murphy, just transfered from another aquarium - in Ireland surprisingly. A couple of weeks earlier they had a group of divers in when Murphy was even newer and he bit a fish in half  They cleared the tank of humans very quickly that day!

Maybe just bored enough with their diet to try you?

Gerry

I thought Taupe was a colour never seen in a real man's wardrobe. I would fear a very close encounter with Taupe.

whereas a Tope.........

Alex,

Just because I didn't spell it properly you didn't have to go and kill one of those Tope/Taupe creatures:p

Gerry, I couldn't resist :D . I'm always getting these bizzare names for colours - which all look the same to me - from my wife and daughter.

Sarcasm/nit picking - the refuge of the hen pecked man  .

Hi Gedan,
I went with my girlfriend and her son for his 16th birthday. It was the first time either of us had been diving.

They take you through what is going to happen in a classroom. Once kitted up you go through basic skills (mask clearing etc) in a nursery tank. If you complete this they then take you into the main tank.

My girlfriend couldn't clear her mask as she couldn't stop breathing in through her nose. They didn't let her dive. I felt they could have spent a few more minutes with her, £100 odd pound and you don't get any refund!

Apart from that Me and Danny had a great experiance.

Posting after imbibing guiness and white wine over an evening isn't good for you, my quality control section must have got mixed up with the part of my mind that does soft furnishings in neutral shades.:D

And you call that an excuse?

Guinness and malt whisky might have been acceptable but Guinness and white wine? Honestly! (would I want to join a club whose members drink Guinness and white?)

If for no other reason, CUSAC needs a Greenock born member to teach the officials about the affects of drink! (Lager = white, beer = malt whisky, guinness = red or malt).

Allow me to teach you the finer points of pints some day!

It was one of those strange two part evenings that involved an accidental pub visit. Anyway, I didn't have anything with ORANGE in it, so surely that shows some good taste:p

I thouroughly enjoyed my dive there. I can't comment on the training, etc, as we were there as a group fo qualified divers, but it was my fuirst dive with sharks and was exciting, despite everyone thinking they looked bored.

Definitely, I went when Charlie organised a CongerAlley.com trip. Enjoyed the dive, sharks weren't as interesting as the rays since they're all around you and not got a problem brushing up against you. If one of the sharks was to do the same it would be a whole different matter.
