I'm twinning my 12l cylinders and now looking for a suitable wing to use with them, interested in the Beuchat Masterlift Tek Wing - anyone with views on this or ideas of wings I should look at would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Brian

plenty of choice and all horses for courses. depends what you plan on doing. also look on www.yorkshiredivers.com for advice as loads of threads there on different wings.

Personally i've a frog midnite for twins and have aquired a halcyon eclipse for single tank diving.

If it's this:

http://www.divelife.co.uk/beachat-masterlift-p-973.html?manufacturers_id=71

It seems a little expensive and overly complicated to me.

You could go to Niknaks and get a 3mm backplate with all the webbing and hardware (including knife) and a Frog Midnight wing for 290 quid.

Not that im an expert but i agree here. If you can wait a week or so i can show you my wing once im home, Ive also a zeagle ranger which can be used for both singles and doubles. However the extra padding on the shoulder straps make it harder to reach valves than a basic webbing harness. Nik-naks are good if you phone them he wont sell you something you dont need. www.divingniknaks.com

I've drifted into using Custom Divers kit myself (TDB wing)
It's not the cheapest but it is solid enough to take the abuse it gets from me (lots!) and they sell all the spares seperately. Very good kit and built for uk use imho :)

Or you could go really, really cheap and buy an Ali plate from Go-Dive for 40 gbp, all the hardware and webbing from Woz for 37 quid and hunt fleabay for a cheap Buddy Redwing (needs to have the hose swapped round and a couple of holes put in the back for the bolts) or similar (my Scubapro Puretek cost me 35 quid).

I'm not an expert either but the thing about backplates and wings is they're supposed to be a lot simpler than any BCD and, although the prices of certain brands are astronomical, cheaper than a BCD as well. I'd think twice about paying that kind of money for a BCD let alone a wing.

Even a complete Agir-Brokk wing, backplate and harness (which are apparently excellent) system is way cheaper than the Beuchat.

As I said if you can hang off a week i'll show you my frog midnite stuff. However im dead happy with it and brought it without seeing anything other than the photos on frog website when they first came out last year.

beware mr nik naks seems to magic money from you without you realising it :-)

Have a Custom Divers TDB myself and it has all the features I need, is bullet proof and has good lift (66lbs). Divelife does them for £380

I've got an ally Dive Rite backplate and a Dive Rite Classic wing which I've been using for years, simple one-piece harness. I've used the same setup with singles, twinsets and now my rebreather and it's been brilliant. Cost about £200.

Cheers,
