After getting back from Sharm with my hard luggage case minus a couple of wheels, i started to look around for a replacement Bag or case to pack all my dive gear in for holidays.need to pack everything except for weights and cylinders. I always hire them of the dive center. Anyone got recommendations.

North Face make some good bags, especially the duffel base camp ones. I've had one for years and its with stood some abuse. Only downside is its that big if you do fill it its hard to lift and no wheels. I use a dry bag in there for clothes then anything else gets slung in the bag.

I find for travelling a samsonite hard suitcase works well. You can fit all your gear in one side and use the other side (that has a zip over cover) for your clothes. It also has an integrated combination lock and you don't need to worry about delicate items being damaged. I also take a mesh duffle type gear bag which rolls up very small inside the suitcase to use to transport gear to the dive shop/site (seamann make a massive one you can fit all your gear in).

here is a post from another forum, (not by me)

I bought a Stahlsac bag for my dive equipment from Markat http://www.markat.co.uk/ because they are supposed to be the best. It came with a "lifetime" guarantee.
I have used it for dozens of trips all over the world and it has stood up extremely well to a huge amount of abuse.
The baggage handlers at one airport decided to steal from my bag and took a knife to the zip. They didn't get in, the zip is too tough, but they left a cut in it.
The bag has wheels, these are rollerboard wheels so much better than the normal. I have pulled the bag many a mile full of kit but after pulling it across one gravel car park too many the plastic bag stand parted company. My fault for excessive abuse.

So I took it back to Markat and told them about these two problems which were none of their fault. They said the "lifetime guarantee" means precisely that, even though I no longer had any receipt and that I had been responsible for the damage.

When I got it back it was like new. They had completely replaced the long zip but the repair is invisible and the new bag stand is even better engineered than the original.

And the cost to me. Zero.
Thank you Markat.

I use an ebay Stahlsac. No wheels unfortunately, but good zip, holds loads, and no decals to show it has got dive kit in it. Easily holds all you need for a weeks warm water diving.

I have a wheeled type back with rucksack straps (rucksack straps only for those stupid enough to want ot carry it that way) by TUSA that cost around £120. It's fine EXCEPT that the zips seems to be made of a material not designed for use anywhere near salt water - a minor design fault one might say! (PS There's a camping workshop near musselburough who do repairs on tents and rucksacks who sorted this for me if you ever need a repair that you've got to pay for.)

I bought my daughter a bag off ebay (couldn't see any for sale so don't know if the supplier has gone or just none for sale just now). It was branded as Whale Shark. Doesn't look the most robust, but at only £25 for the same large wheeeled and rucksacked style bag it certainly looks up to the job.
