In a particularly ham-fisted moment I managed to damage the DIN handwheel to my Apeks DS4 1st stage (i.e. the bit that you rotate (by hand... not by pipe-grip) to fit the reg to the cylinder). :o

You can see the result of my effort in this photo:

Would anyone by any chance have an old handwheel lying about that they would be willing to part with for a fair price please?

I'm still able to use the old one at the moment but it's not happy!

the center barrel might be a standard size, you may get away with using a non apex fitting.

& for everything else, there’s Mastercard!

What is that in the inlet of your DS4; scale? salt? corrosion? pealing?

What is that in the inlet of your DS4; scale? salt? corrosion? pealing? The plating has pealed off a bit. Looks worse in the photo than by eye. More cosmetic than functional I think.

Apart from wrecking the handwheel , I'm normally pretty careful with my regs so I'm not sure why it happened. They're less than a year old.

Could you not get a warranty claim in for the corrosion and maybe blag the wheel at the same time?

I'd contact Apeks directly . AIUI the plastic handwheels were a short lived modification and they reverted back to chromed brass fairly quickly - they may just replace it for you - at worst charge you a few quid.

The service you get form Apeks is second to none, and I was very very impressed.

Charlie, Apeks have just issued a recall for yoke clamps with the serial numbers 7010001 to 7053528. Article in the Diver Mag today.

I sent the 1st stage to Apeks last Thursday. Received it back today (Monday) by courier. They replaced both damaged sections free of charge despite the handwheel trauma being my fault. Excellent service!

Great service right enough

The replacement was like for like, which should be OK if I'm a bit more careful.

That is excellent service as you say Charlie, Apeks once again showing their second to none customer care - Good on them.

I'm in the throws of twinning my 12l and that post has just convinced me to purchase the Apeks isolation manifold.

Suppose this is another example in life of the old saying 'you reap what you sow'
