Date: 15th June 2007
Site: The Caves
Visibility: 3-5m
Tide: ebb
Weather: overcast/rainy
midges: only a few blood thirsty demons!
run time: 55 minutes, max depth 32m.

i did the caves on Friday night (3 of us in total), around 8pm by the time we got in the water.
the viz wasnt great, but varied from 3-5 throught the dive.
really wish i had taken my undersuit & not had to dive with my clothes under my dry-suit. small mercies!
but i was warm enough to last 55 minutes in the water avoiding deco by 2 minutes for most of the deep part.
no sign of Beryl the seal despite being loads of big fish life around.
my buddy found a good handfull of brass bullets scattered in a local area, they had blue tips, i assume these were blank training rounds??
i put one down on a rock & thrust my metal torch head at it, BOOM nah just kidding but my buddy managed to fin backwards without any problems.
no idea how they got there, but they were close to the shore in around 6-7m of water, perhaps 20 of them or so.
my other buddy had a slight problem with a leaky hose!! but this had nothing to do with his kit or suit. :o
he wont hear the end of this for a while!!! & no i wont name him.... well not for now..:D

Bullets are dumped by the chaps at the base after they do trainning up and down the loch. Found some last year near the platforms.

exactly the same Charlie, with blue tips within the crimped section.

I cant see the picture due to the works firewall, but they sound like blanks.

Normal rounds comprise of the casing with the pointy bit (Bullet) crimped in. Blanks have no pointy bit, the shell casing is just crimped and usually painted blue or yellow. The only other type are tracer rounds in which the Bullet is normally painted red.
