A good evening dive with Dumbarton Scot SAC on Trail Island, off Wee Cumbrae last night. Dived with John Teevan on the Flying Eagle.

Rather particulate water (like Blae Rock in Firth of Forth) so viz only 3 to 4m. Occasionally the water was so cloudy it was like there had been someone finning directly in front of you. Loads to see on the stepped walls and horizontal cracks. Plenty of cup corals, sea squirts, urchins, starfish, crabs, congers, wrasse and blennies. Occasional outcrops on the walls of dahlia and plumose anemones and dead mans fingers.

23m max for 52 mins. Temp 11 degrees.

All this and hot tea and lemon drizzle cake on the way back.

It's a nice site. What was the deal for the boat?

Sounds excellent, Alex. John is a great skipper & a very friendly guy.

Did you organise a full boat load of divers or just tag along with others?

Sounds like there's more life there now than on our previous dive back in Feb.

Gord, John will take minimum 6 divers and can take up to 9 divers. £12 per person for one evening dive includes transport to divesite and back and tea/coffee and choc biscuits.

Charlie, I organised it with Dumbarton Scot SAC - 6 of us dived. We met at 6.30 pm at the marina at Largs. Much more life than when we were on it earlier in the year.

Hi...first post since joining.
Had a great dive with John Teevan on Flying Eagle at Trail Island 2 weeks ago as well. Loved the reef, sooooo many ledges and huge boulders with nooks and crannies to examine. Spent most of the dive at 26m and then worked way up after 25 mins. Had 4 friends with me who all really enjoyed it too. What made it all worthwhile was this little fellow below. There's a wee story to this but I'll keep it to myself for the moment!!

Great forum. Looking forward to many posts. :D :D

Trail Island (http://www.congeralley.com/sites/trail.htm) is a good dive for a new diver it has a good amount of life. Its a good first dive for new trainees learning new boat skills.
