I am impressed!
My missus has a Gekko and she is not very good in keeping a logbook:rolleyes: . So, I borrowed a Suunto USB cable from Darryl (who will be on this forum very soon). Downloaded the USB driver, the SDM software and the hack. Voila! Done in 15minutes including getting all the dives from the Gekko. I was even able to download the dives directly in our Dive Log software! :)
Who needs a Vyper??

Lars,

I dont need it as I have a Vytec anyway, but I thought it was a hardware issue with the Geko rather than a software thing for downloading dives. What's the hack??

And were you diving yesterday and do you have plans for Sunday?

Cheers

Anja was diving in Elie yesterday, finishing off her sports diver. I have slight problems with my back at the moment. But the idea is to go out with Ian on Sunday: one dive Bass Rock and one at the May Isle.

The Gekko and Vyper seem to be very similar. So, the hack (a little tool) is a piece of software which tells the Gekko to be a Vyper, then you can download the files and so on. After that you switch it back to be a Gekko. There are loads of posts here and other forums.

Accoring to Chris the Gekko and Vyper are in fact functionally exactly the same, except that Suunto used internal programming to turn off some of the features and sell the Gekko a bit cheaper as an intro' computer.

With the Gekkos luminescant display being more practical than the vypers backlight, you're probably onto a winner.
